KVPCA2

Nestled into the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania, sits the Kiski Valley Presbyterian Church. Its white steeple stands amid the surrounding trees as a beacon – calling true believers to the veracity of scripture, reformed theology, expository teaching, Christ-centered living, and compassionate evangelism.

In 1983, several families departed from other doctrines, recognizing a common conviction to the timeless truth of God’s Word. Beginning as a home Bible study, three years of devoted prayer and supplication resulted in a new congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. The Kiski Valley Presbyterian Church held its first morning worship service in July 1986. Acknowledging God’s glory and His providential leading, the church continued to flourish, drawing others to grow in the admonition of the Lord.

From its inception, the Church has embraced a diverse congregation from many walks of life and denominations. Seeking the solid foundation of reformed faith, seniors, married couples, families with children, and single believers worship together. Some children of the church attend the 6 nearby public school districts, some attend private Christian academies, and some are home–schooled. Variety also characterizes the neighboring vicinities with boroughs, towns, small urban municipalities, and rural villages.

Sunday School classes for all ages, Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies, Men’s Breakfasts, Women’s Outreach Ministries, Home Growth Groups, Youth Group, Women’s Prayer Ministry, and Fellowship Dinners define the agenda of church members. Yearly traditions – Hat & Mitten Trees, Holiday Food Baskets, and Caroling to nursing homes, are seasonal ministries to the less fortunate. Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox collections and World Vision donations for third world countries are annual Christmas projects.

Donating backpacks and school supplies to inner city children and creating care packages for college and military members are favored Fall activities. Donations to Try Life Center- a local pregnancy and family resource center are collected annually. An energetic, out-reach focused Vacation Bible School is a highlight of the summer season. KVPC had embraced funding a Clean Water Project in a third-world country, meeting its goal of $2,000 within a calendar year to drill a fresh water well for a village in need.

Each Sunday morning KVPC gathers to glorify God. Acknowledging His truth through reformed theology and the Westminster Confession of Faith, His people reply with offerings and joyful praise. Both traditional hymns and worship songs lift congregational voices to declare Christ Jesus as King of kings and Lord of all.

KVPC remains submissive to the will of God for discernment and direction – seeking to teach God’s truth, enable people to grow in faith, provide fellowship and support, and reflect Christ in this hurting world.
